Highly porous non-precious bimetallic electrocatalysts for efficient hydrogen evolution
A robust and efficient non-precious metal catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction is one of the key components for carbon dioxide-free hydrogen production. Here we report that a hierarchical nanoporous copper-titanium bimetallic electrocatalyst is able to produce hydrogen from water under a mild overpotential at more than twice the rate of state-of-the-art carbon-supported platinum catalyst. A...
متن کاملDegradation of Bimetallic Model Electrocatalysts – an in situ XAS Study
We have studied the potential-induced degradation of Pt monolayer model electrocatalysts on Rh(111) and Au(111) singlecrystal substrates. The anodic formation of Pt oxides was monitored using in situ high energy resolution fluorescence detection x-ray absorption spectroscopy (HERFD XAS). Although Pt was deposited on both substrates in a three-dimensional island growth mode, we observed remarkab...
متن کاملDevelopment of ruthenium-based bimetallic electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction
Ruthenium-based bimetallic electrocatalysts with non-noble metals such as Ti, Cr, Fe, Co and Pb were synthesized on a porous carbon support sing a chelation process. Rotating ring disk electrode measurements indicated that RuFeNx/C showed the catalytic activity and selectivity toward he four-electron reduction of oxygen to water comparable to those of the conventional Pt/C catalysts. The perfor...
متن کاملRapid Screening of Bimetallic Electrocatalysts for Oxygen Reduction in Acidic Media by Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy
Additional bimetallic electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction ORR in acidic media were designed using a previously reported thermodynamic selection guide. The electrocatalyst mixtures were prepared in large arrays on glassy carbon substrates and the electrocatalytic activity was screened using scanning electrochemical microscopy SECM . Activities were measured for a range of bimetall...
متن کاملTuning the surface structure of supported PtNi(x) bimetallic electrocatalysts for the methanol electro-oxidation reaction.
The structures of PtNix nanoalloy particles were modified through thermal annealing in different atmospheres. The evolution of surface structures was uncovered by advanced transmission electron microscopy, and the structure-function correlation in methanol electro-oxidation was probed. It provided new insights into the design and synthesis of highly efficient electrocatalysts.
